Today we announced that we have signed an agreement with Cognizant to acquire Bright Wolf. The outpouring of positive support from our customers, partners, and team members has reinforced this decision for us. I thought I would share some of our thoughts about how we got here and why we’re excited about where we’re going.
Our mission at Bright Wolf is to partner with leading industrial enterprises as they add digital product offerings to their P&L. We believe that IIoT is unique. Industrial enterprises are on a multi-year journey to transform how they work internally, and how they participate in the value chain with their customers. Bright Wolf partners with those enterprises who have made the strategic decision to invest in this area. We help them navigate the change.
Most of our competitors today are offering our customers a platform, or cloud based service elements, with third party integration services to handle customization. Others offer to build them a one-off app and then move on to the next project. Bright Wolf works hand in hand with our customers to design, architect, build, and then enable their organization to become value-driven and software-enabled.
Our acquisition by Cognizant will allow us to scale that mission. Our customers are multi-billion dollar, multinational organizations with a wide range of needs. Bright Wolf is a relatively small team of highly skilled, highly focused, senior architects and developers. We are able to impact our customers during the architecture, design, and implementation phases of their IIoT initiatives, which is critical, but is not a complete solution. By joining forces with Cognizant, we are able to expand our offerings to include a complete set of strategic services at both the front end and post deployment stages of our engagements. This includes a range of services such as continued maintenance and support, Digital Engineering, and AI & ML based value enhancements.
To ensure that we’re able to deliver impact at scale, Cognizant will be investing in the Bright Wolf team and approach. We’ll be building an IoT center here in Durham for customers, partners, and Cognizant team members to innovate and grow the IoT practice area. We’ll be investing more in developing our solution accelerators, expanding our Zero Waste Engineering™ training and enablement efforts, and growing our team to accommodate the increased demand for our craft.
The strength of our team is why a group of about 30 people has been able to make a mark on the trillion dollar revolution that is IIoT. As a result, over the last several quarters we have had a steady stream of strategic interest from established enterprises evaluating their approach to IIoT. We considered the best path forward to preserve our mission and reach our goals, focusing our conversations on organizations that reflected our values: People First, Craft, Impact, and Adaptability. We found in Cognizant an organization of outstanding people, with the right values, working at scale. It’s gratifying to see that echoed just last week by the news that Cognizant ranks #19 on Forbes’ best employers list.
We’re excited to scale the impact of Bright Wolf into the market with Cognizant. To help more customers achieve their goals, and to bring the power of Cognizant to the Raleigh-Durham tech triangle area. Thank you to all of our team members, customers, and partners for joining us on the first part of this journey. We look forward to continuing the mission with you.
